Wesley King

On Wednesday September 26, our grade 3/4 and grade 4/5 students had the opportunity to see acclaimed author Wesley King present to students at the Manitoba Theatre for Young People.  Mr. King was in town as part of the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, an annual event that showcases quality writing and presents opportunities for learning, creativity and enthusiasm.

Wesley King has published several children’s books, and was the winner of last year's MYRCA (Manitoba Young Readers Choice Award) for his novel OCDaniel.  He is nominated again this year for his book Laura Monster Crusher, and has just released his new book, A World Below.
During his presentation, Mr. King shared many interesting stories about how he came to be a writer (it was not his first career choice), and the importance of doing what you love to do.  He answered many questions about writing from the students in attendance, and ended the afternoon by signing books.

Terry Fox Run

Everyone had a great time showing their support for our annual Terry Fox Run.
It was a perfect day to be outside enjoying the fall weather.

As a school, we ran 729 laps of the field . . .

. .  and raised $229.35 towards cancer research.

 Way to go Beaumont!
