December Bits and Pieces

These are some of the poppyies that the 4/5's made. They got to pick which color glaze they wanted to use to remember.
Red poppys are to remember the soldiers and others that died in the war.
The white poppys symbolize peace. It started in England. They are to remember the civilian casualties - its someone who was not involved in war gets accidentally killed.

Purple poppys symbolize animals that died in the war, for  example:  horses, pigeons, dogs, mules, cats.
The Silver cross is an award to moms that have lost a son in war. This year the silver cross mom lost her son to suicide after he came home.  He had PTSD.  The silver poppy is to remember the soldiers who do not get killed in war, but still sacrificed a lot.

Grade 4/5 Lyle made gingerbread houses with their kindergarten buddies.  They look delicious!
